History
Founded in 1977 under the name Rymel, it began as a repair plant for distribution transformers. Later on, thanks to experience and results analysis gathered from countless repairs, they began manufacturing distribution transformers. Today, it is a company with over 300 employees dedicated to serving people.
They offer new lines in their products, both in energy transformation and its measurement; leading the region in the market for conventional transformers; self-protected (CSP), pad-mounted, dry transformers, resin encapsulated, current transformers (CT's) for low and medium voltage, and potential transformers (PT's) for medium voltage. Additionally, it is the representative for Colombia of the Slovakian firm APPLIED METERS, manufacturers of energy meters.
- Its founder, Jaime Cardona Montoya, established a workshop for electrical repairs and assemblies located in the Barrio Triste sector, with 3 employees. The first job carried out was the repair of a 5 kVA transformer.
- Construction began on the first warehouse located in the "San Diego" sector in the early 80s.
- They ventured into the manufacture of distribution transformers, initially single-phase.
- Approval was obtained from the SIC for the sale of transformers.
- Rymel, along with other industry companies, participated as founding partners in the creation of the research and technological development center for the electrical sector (CIDET).
- - Manufacture of the first three-phase pedestal-type transformer, to be exported to Costa Rica.
- Rymel obtained national representation for the marketing and assembly of Krizik brand energy meters from Slovakia.
- The first contracts with the electric companies: Grupo EPM and Codensa were obtained. - - Manufacture of the first occasionally submersible and self-protected transformers.
- The first quality management system certificate under the ISO 9001 standard was obtained. - - Inclusion of technology for the shaping of Unicore type magnetic cores.
- Development of low-voltage current transformers. - Manufacture of transformers with aluminum windings.
- Implementation of a chemical pre-treatment system and powder coating.
- Construction of the plant in the municipality of Copacabana, Antioquia.
- - Rymel is the pioneer in the country in manufacturing the first limiting reactors for Public Companies of Medellin.
- Acquisition of annealing ovens.
- Access to new markets such as: Bolivia, Dominican Republic, Venezuela, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and the presence was strengthened in Ecuador, Costa Rica, Peru, and Panama. - - Design and manufacture of H-class dry-type transformers for medium voltage.
- Representation of the Slovakian energy meter manufacturer APPLIED METERS was obtained. - - Obtained the ISO 14001 environmental certification.
- - Rymel installs a plant for the treatment of domestic and non-domestic wastewater generated in its processes.
- Creation of the R&D unit and the Rynova research group, with the aim of focusing the company's efforts on innovation. - - Venture into the use of solar energy on an industrial scale with the installation of a photovoltaic solar plant.
- Obtained the BASC certificate.
- Development of the transformer manufacturing line. - Rymel is recognized by CIDET for its contribution to the development of the electrical sector.
- - Obtained UL certification for monophase and threephase oil-insulated pedestal-type transformers.
- Development of high-efficiency distribution transformers insulated in vegetable oil. - Obtained the ISO 18001 Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems certification.
- - Acquired cutting-edge technology for the encapsulation of electrical equipment with epoxy resin and developed the first high-efficiency encapsulated dry-type transformer.
- Rymel wins the innovation award at the FISE 2019 fair under the successful business modality. - - Strategic alliance with the NES brand to provide the electrical sector with an advanced metering infrastructure solution.
- Acquired cutting-edge technology for the encapsulation of measuring transformers.
